Please add a "POP3 remote mailbox" [as it's called in Sylpheed; in Thunderbird it has other name]. It enables the view of only the title, sender, size and date of messages in POP3 server, so the user decides what to get or what to delete, eg if the size is too big. [Using IMAP the problem is that if one is not carefull and clicks on a title, it triggers the download of the possibly too big/unwanted email [or eg when deleting an email the next one gets selected/downloaded ]]. Thx
In Claws Mail we take a different approach: Go to the 'Receive' page of your POP3 account preferences, here you can set a 'Receive size limit'. Messages which exceed the limit you set will be partially retrieved. When you view such a message you will see a button which you can click to download the rest of the message. Alternately you can just delete the message.
cool,in some cases it's better this way, but i tried and some times a 'malformed MIME' caused no button to download the rest of the message, and other cases it downloaded the whole mail, not respecting my size limit, [i deleted them, have been fighting with https://www.thewildbeast.co.uk/claws-mail/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=4580 Impossible to really delete emails in gmail IMAP ] so it would be nice to have both the Claws way and "POP3 remote mailbox" as in Sylpheed... Thx
There is no 'pop3 remote mailbox', it's a misnomner, the headers need to be downloaded at least. What size limit have you set? I am not aware of such problems previously. It shouldn't matter that the MIME structure is broken - in fact, that would be expected when using this feature but should not prevent the feature working. When you say the whole mail is downloaded, could this be because it is smaller that the limit you've set?
It happened with some 'institutional' emails [not really spam but not wanted] eg they were 10. After POP download [my size limit eg i tried with 12k, 32k, or 64k],The 3 first show [in the place where the 'download it' button should have been] this: 'malformed MIME, it may not render correctly, it was deleted from the server' , no button to download the rest of the message, and from email 4 to 10 [that were eg from 200k to 3Mb or more, all bigger than my size limit eg 64k] they were download whole, no 'download it' button, so somehow the 'malformed MIME' of the 3 first [and presumably of the others] make the whole 'size limit + button' function not functional for these batch of emails received.
i think maybe tose emails originally would have worked as expected with 'size limit + button', but because i had been trying to delete them in IMAP https://www.thewildbeast.co.uk/claws-mail/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=4580 , clicking, selecting, 'delete all' many times, they were being moved around between IMAP's 'inbox', 'Trash' [1 and 2] and 'All mail' folders, so Google migh have done something to their MIME that made Claws 'size limit + button' misbehave.
