Screenshot of filter ruleset

Hello,
I run Claws 4.0.0 on Ubuntu 22.04.
I created a rule to delete certain posts in a newsgroup.
It works, but 1 message (the filter should apply) is not being deleted.

I already discussed that here and others also experience that.

https://de.comm.software.newsreader.narkive.com/J6u8g4Xy/claws-verarbeitungsregel-lasst-einen-beitrag-aus

It seems to be a problem with the delete action, because Martin Schnitkemper said that the ruleset is fine because if he uses it to mark the messages, all are marked.

I assume it is related to the delete action.

kind regards

This should really have been discussed on the users' mailing list before opening a bug report here. This is a bug tracker, not a user support forum.

Also it would have been better to paste the text which the attached image shows.

Turn on the filtering log and inspect it for the reason that that one message doesn't get deleted by the filtering rule.

Go to /Confoguration/Preferences/Other/Logging, turn on 'Enable logging of filtering/processing rules. View the log here: /Tools/Filtering Log.

Report back.

I ran Claws on Ubuntu 22.04 Live to have a fresh test environment.
The group only had 3 downloaded messages (to reduce the filter output).
For 2 of them the filter rule applies, but no one will be deleted.

I hope this is helpful.

It shows the processing rule worked.

Ok, but the message isn't being deleted, do you really think it isn't a bug and just a misconfiguration at my side?
If so, I'll discuss it there.
Comment 6 Paul 2022-09-19 14:02:22 UTC
I did more testing. Fortunate (in a sense) as I was able to reproduce the problem.

It seems related specifically to NNTP folders, and the problem is that, say, if there are 3 matching messages, 2 get deleted. If there is just 1, it remains.
Comment 7 Marco Moock 2023-01-19 21:07:07 UTC
Did you find the error in the codebase?

Here somebody noticed that it only affects the deletion, marking seems to work.
