Claws Mail's SMTP doesn't work over VPN.

In logs: connection time exceeded.

IMAP works.

STMP works in other mail clients over the same account over the same VPN.

Thanks.

You are mistaken. There is nothing to stop Claws Mail working over VPN, however it is impossible that your IP is blocked by the SMTP server, for example.

Paul,

Only if Claws Mail uses other protocols properties...

Also now I remembered I wrote to bug #3554. And that advice doesn't work for me...

What do you mean by this, can you explain?

What VPN provider are you using?

I meant Thunderbird's SMTP works well.

Ok I'll investigate.

this is not a duplicate of bug 3554, they talk about two disparate things.

Perhaps all you need to do for this is configure the right SMTP port, (Advanced page of account preferences). This is necessary for some VPN providers.
Comment 7 Alexander Kurakin 2018-10-28 14:09:41 UTC
Yes, it was VPN providers' issues. I'm sorry.
