hi

i enable autocheck email every 120 minutes and i have several accounts in the
default check (1 imap, 1 local, 3 pop)

i have found that every time i arrive from work, when i switch to the virtual
screen that have sylpheed (and so it gain focus) it will go fetch the email...

looking in the logs i see that during the all day sylpheed didnt check for the
email and only started to check if i "wake" it up by giving it focus

i suspect that even if i leave sylpheed with focus all day, it will not fetch
the email and only wake up if i touch the mouse or the keyboard
(and no, the Pc isnt sleeping, i ssh to it all day)

i'm using kernel 2.6.9 and slackware 10, fluxbox 0.1.14 if it matters

It works here. How long have you noticed this problem?
Comment 2 Daniel Mota Leite 2004-12-16 10:52:16 UTC
i suspect about this about for at least 6 months but this is hard to tell, as
requires special conditions (long time idle, long time for autocheck, big emails
to see the emails being downloaded or parsed)

i remember that i used about 15 min for autocheck, but sometime in this last
year changed that to one hour, so i could exist for longer ...

i know this doesnt help pinpoint the problem, and to make things worst, if i try
to strace the "sleeping" sylpheed process, it will wake up 8(

this problem only happends in long autocheck times, i tried again 15 min and
seens to work fine, but returning to 60 min it will show up again

maybe to duplicate this problem, create a parsing script that saves the hours
that it checks the emails to a temporary file

maybe something related with connection timeout with the imap accounts? i right
now autocheck 1 imap, 3 pop and 1 local accounts
