Hello,
The GPG defaults are not secure for privacy. TorBirdy fixes this in ThunderBird/Engimail via using the "GPG commannd line arguments" override.

If users were allowed to insert GPG command line arguments it could fix the problem, or consider importing these as an option in the GPG preferences.

What stops you from configuring your gpg.conf the way you want?
