Description nw9165-3201 2014-06-26 15:22:27 UTC
Hello,

as already mentioned on the mailing list:

http://lists.claws-mail.org/pipermail/users/2014-June/010155.html

Claws Mail seems to have issues with Yahoo IMAP accounts.

I have tested it with Sylpheed and Trojitá in the meantime and it works just fine in Sylpheed and Trojitá.

It's just Claws Mail which has the issues.

So I'd say this can be considered a bug in Claws Mail.

The IMAP server mentioned over there:

https://help.yahoo.com/kb/imap-server-settings-sln4075.html

seems to have the following folders by default:

Inbox
= inbox folder, called "Inbox" in the english Yahoo web interface

Sent
= sent folder, called "Sent" in the english Yahoo web interface

Draft
= drafts folder, called "Draft" in the english Yahoo web interface

Trash
= trash folder, called "Trash" in the english Yahoo web interface

Bulk Mail
= spam folder, called "Spam" in the english Yahoo web interface

Y! Conversations
= Yahoo messenger conversations folder, does not show up as an email folder in the Yahoo web interface

When using Claws Mail, the drafts folder "Draft" is not recognized as being the drafts folder and Claws Mail does create an additional "Drafts" draft type folder instead.

Also, Claws Mail does show two inbox folders. One is called "INBOX" (all capital letters) and one is called "Inbox" (first letter capital). "INBOX" is made the inbox folder type by Claws Mail whereas "Inbox" is a normal folder type according to Claws Mail.

Both "INBOX" as well as "Inbox" do have the same contents and are basically identical.

However, Sylpheed is only showing one "Inbox" folder and makes it the inbox folder type by default. And Trojitá is doing the same, as well as Thunderbird.

Only Claws Mail has this issue.

Could you please fix that issue?

And can you please make Claws Mail make the "Draft" folder be the drafts type folder by default without Claws Mail creating an additional "Drafts" folder (Sylpheed doesn't to that either, so it must be a bug in Claws Mail I'd say)?

Also, could you please make Claws Mail make "Bulk Mail" display as "Spam" (it's also called "Spam" in the english Yahoo web interface and not "Bulk Mail")?

Regards

Make INBOX case-insensitive (as RFC states), and add a check for a "Draft" folder when building folder tree. Fixes bug #3221, "Claws Mail has issues with Yahoo IMAP server/folders"

This is essentially a duplicate of bug #2647.

I don't know why you keep on comparing with sylpheed - "Sylpheed doesn't to that either, so it must be a bug in Claws Mail I'd say" - as I said before, sylpheed is irrelevant here.

Hello,

thanks for the patch, but:

is there any chance you could release a new Win32 version which has this patch included?

Then I could check it.

Well: I compared it to Sylpheed (and Trojitá and Thunderbird) because I wanted to see if other email clients do show the same issue. If they would have shown the same issue, then maybe Claws Mail wouldn't be at fault. However, those other three email clients (yes, Sylpheed happened to be among them) did not show this issue. So, Claws Mail is very likely at fault here, thus I have a reason to submit a bug report.

By the way, considering that you always say and repeatedly try to teach me "Sylpheed is irrelevant here", I found it very funny to read how Ricardo Mones wrote the following sentence a few days ago:

;D

It almost led me to reply with "But Sylpheed is irrelevant here =O!", but I managed to resist =D.

That was for a different situation, where Ricardo knew it was relevant. However, as a rule, treat sylpheed as irrelevant here unless you specifically know it is relevant in the given situation. Thanks.

Hi,

The next Windows version will come with the next release (which isn't planned yet).

Don't worry, though, I did check it :)

Hi,

I have the same issue in version 3.11.1. This bug does not seem to be fixed. Only the Yahoo IMAP has the issue.

I am on Linux not on Windows and I use the version provided bu OpenSuSE 13.2.

Is there a newer version that has a fix for this? Or should we reopen the bug?

Thanks
Bogdan
