Hello . . .

Today I opened claws-mail and the following error message appeared,

"Addressbook Error

Could not read addressbook index"

To my knowledge nothing out of the ordinary happened. This app has been installed with daily openings for over a year or so.

Is a reinstall necessary?

No, a re-install is not necessary.
You'll have a backup file here: ~/.claws-mail/addrbook/addrbook--index.xml.bak
rename it addrbook--index.xml.
