Created attachment 1094 [details] Accounts panel after duplicate deleted. Manually verified some gmail accounts and found one with old messages which had never been collected. Thinking I'd forgotten to create an account in CM, I copied an existing gmail account and made the appropriate changes. Then, I did some testing to ensure I could use multiple clients (incl. new Android phone) on gmail accounts -- discovered the need to use "recent:userid@gmail.com" format to allow multiple clients... Went back into CM accounts and made change. Then I noticed I'd just created a duplicate account, so I deleted the older one. From the entrails, it appears that when a duplicate account is created (fresh, without realizing one already exists) in CM, two instances of the account ([Account: N] -- same N) are entered into accountrc. When one of these accounts is deleted (older one in my case), CM created a trash account.
Created attachment 1095 [details] Deleted duplicate account and this one appeared.
What sort of account, imap or pop? How did you copy this account?

Almost missed your questions... I was still entering attachments... :) > What sort of account, imap or pop? All my accounts are pop >How did you copy this account? Highlighted account, clicked Copy. Changed account name (without realizing the same name already existed (off-screen)) and adjusted userid/passwd. Added default inbox, and saved. A few minutes later, I noticed the duplicate at or near bottom of accounts -- I can't recall if the deleted account was last or 2nd-last; but the junk account was now last. When I created the new, accidentally duplicate account, did CM write out accountrc at that point? That would explain why there were 2 account #20 in accountrc -- thinking CM only writes some (all?) .claws-mail files on close?
i think this was fixed long ago but never closed here.
