Description Ananda Samaddar 2010-08-16 14:46:35 UTC
Claws mail has two Inbox folders on my Lavabit IMAP account. The first one is called 'INBOX' and is of folder type Inbox. The second is labelled 'Inbox' and is of folder type normal. Incoming mail is delivered to both these folders. It is possible to delete the second Inbox in folderlist.xml but when rebuilding the folder tree or scanning for new folders the second Inbox reappears.

The file shot1.jpg shows the folders in Claws. Shot2.jpg shows the folders in Lavabit.com's interface as they should be. Mozilla Thunderbird shows the folders correctly with only one Inbox.

I should add that changing folder types and unsubscribing does not work. The phantom inbox is still there.

case insensitive check for INBOX existence

try the attached patch, maybe it will work :)

The patch doesn't work, I never even mentioned, I'm using 3.7.6 on Arch Linux. If any further info is needed let me know.

this seems to be similar to
* Bug 2236 - messed up folder structure after deleting imapcache
* maybe even #1090
Comment 7 Paul 2010-08-18 07:14:56 UTC
Ananda, have you tried changing the folder type (in the folder Properties) of "Inbox" to "Inbox" and then removing folder "INBOX"?
Comment 8 Ananda Samaddar 2010-08-18 17:49:50 UTC
I've already tried changing the folder types around and deleting in every possible combination and it didn't work.
Comment 9 Ricardo Mones 2010-08-21 01:30:57 UTC
As seen in the log when you access a lavabit.com account for first time Claws Mail only creates the Trash, Queue, Sent and Drafts folders, so I'd say is a problem with lavabit's IMAP server.

Not sure why TB shows just one folder, maybe they have coded explicit workarounds for this?

BTW, the account created for this test is still active, if some developer wants the password for playing with it just ping me.

I think Paul's original patch was possibly on the right track. It must be said though that Claws' rigid creation of folders is somewhat annoying. Couldn't a list of folders be read from the IMAP server and no new folders created? Why would you want a queue folder on an IMAP account?

Sylpheed has the same problem as Claws with Lavabit accounts. In both cases though the extra inbox folder can be delete from 'folderlist.xml' and it ceases to exist. If you change folder subscriptions or rebuild the folder tree, the phantom inbox reappears though.

http://lavabit.com/ has ceased operation so I don't think this can ever be fixed.

Setting for later, just in case the service becomes available again.
