Description delicacy 2019-05-19 14:23:20 UTC
That would be amazing

so on each lines of my csv, i'd have either pop3 & smtp (or not) data for each accounts, on each line of the file. All those accounts are used to send & receive
using the principal inbox, trash ect of claws.

if no smtp is given, the importer could guess, for ex:

if i set it as a ssl for pop, use ssl for smtp
if the pop3 server is pop.server.com, then smtp will be smtp.server.com
if the pop3 server is mail.server.com, then smtp will be mail.server.com
for pop ports either ssl or not, use general port numbers for emailing.
& if i added smtp data info, follow it instead.

Sounds like an idea for a script that would take the input and create
necessary account blocks in your accountrc file.

naturally, if i add account name in the beginning, this will be imported
to. (the name of email appearing on receivers inbox fo new emails from me)
& not the name of my account in claws. & one more thing would be cool too:
importing checking every minutes section too from csv, or do it automatically with the import feature, for 1min for each account.

A script outside of Claws Mail.

if you can't integrate a script, patch or plugin to claws..
then why not a second app..

I'm not saying we can't, I just think it would be an overkill. It's simple text parsing and writing out some lines to a plain text file, and a script to do that will take less effort and even be safer (text parsing in C is inherently unsafe).

I see, but i wouldn't know with what to use that "script", if you could make it a win32 app, it would be amazing, or i can open it with java engine, why not.

After a month, do you have an approximate delay for creating that tool ?
Comment 9 Andrej Kacian 2019-06-20 13:06:49 UTC
No. This tool will only get created if someone feels motivated enough to create it. That is how open source software works.
Comment 10 delicacy 2019-06-20 13:26:44 UTC
Since you seem to know coding in your replies but don't want to get involved
but pretend it's feasible but it requires a person out of the blue who'll parse all bugs in the site & feel the strength to give a crap about my request & create it, it means, it will never be done. so i'm dumping claws-mail.
