Description simon.legner 2019-11-04 11:24:18 UTC
Please add a comment to the following strings to make translator's life easier:
- Hunk lines
- Pick color for hunk lines

I have no idea what "hunk" would mean in this context.

Just to be clear, are you asking for po files (Content-Type: text/x-gettext-translation) to be given configurable highlighting colours when viewed in claws-mail?

Hunk lines are indeed lines in text blocks that describe what is different between several compared text files, in a `diff` output (could be the diff command or a diff comment from a repository management system). Such lines can appear in specific colors, in order to distinguish more easily what changed and what is described by the diff output (mostly: lines removed - commonly in red, lines added - commonly in green).

Simon, this tracker is not the right place to discuss translations or request for translation help (you didn't know, you did it, there's nothing wrong in that). May I invite you to join the translators mailing list and post any further request in there?

Hi all,

thanks for your replies. I wanted to motivate adding a `i18n:` comment for the two hunk strings in the source file src/prefs_msg_colors.c similar to the following example in order to give all translators an idea what this string is referring to.

src/plugins/fetchinfo/fetchinfo_plugin.c
> /* i18n: Possible error message during plugin load */
>		g_warning("failed to write Fetchinfo configuration to file");

I'm doing software development myself and use diff/git regularly. Sill, I had no clue what "hunk" is referring to. And I still have no clue for a sensible German translation.

Thanks,
Simon
