more information is needed from you. For example:

Did you just verify this by seeing weird looking characters?
Where did you see these characters?
Did the password fail after this when interacting with mail servers?

I will close this as WORKSFORME now, as that is the case, and because you are using a throwaway email address and may never check it.

Please re-open it with more information.

I see the password when I tick the show password option.
The password works during the session, but when I restart my computer, it gets scrambled

More information needed.

Do you have a very long passphrase?
Are you using any non-ascii characters?
Do you quit claws-mail cleanly?

Are you able to upgrade to the latest release (3.17.4) and test again?

Please provide as much information as you can, as this is unreproducible and so far there is not much to go on.

what is considered a long password?
It is all ASCII characters the password.
3.16.0 is the latest available version for my system.

I didn't change the password until I started having this problem.
The only connection that I can make is that I deleted some stored password (not for this program) in my system (Ubuntu 18.04 LTS for 32 bits) and around after that this problem started to happen.

You say, "The password works during the session, but when I restart my computer, it gets scrambled".

What happens when you quit claws-mail and restart it?
Comment 6 Johnny 2019-10-02 01:30:20 UTC
It works.
I make sure I kill any claws-mail bin running in the background, and when I restart it it works without problems.
It even works after loging out from my session.
It gets scrambled only when the computer is restarted.
