Following fairly recent discussions on the USERS mailing list it is apparent that newbies often find that with the default configuration of CM the first address entered into the compose window "vanishes". It actually just scroll out of sight - but that is enough to frighten the newbie.

As an enhancement I would like to see the scrolling (or the fact that scrolling had taken place) in the composer window's address pane made more obvious.

There are many things that could be done, but are probably not worth the effort.  A couple of things that should be fairly easy and obvious are;

Set the default configuration such that the address pane is a NON integer size. Having half a field visible should make it obvious that something is scrollable.

Starting at 2.5 field would waste little space, and reduce the false alarms. (Setting it at 10.5 would not waste any space for the clued up user, because they would just adjust it to suit - but it would raise concerns from another bunch of newbies.)

Can the *time* of the scrolling be changed?

If the pane scrolled half a line when the first character of the second field were entered, then the first address would not have "dis-appeared", the second would be clear for input, and the existence of the third would be apparent.

The next scroll after that should have the third line clear for input, with the existence of the second and fourth visible.

Thanks in advance.
