Network Log says (tried twice):

* Account 'sdfg16': Connecting to SMTP server: mail.riseup.net:25...
* Account 'sdfg16': Connecting to SMTP server: mail.riseup.net:25...

and that's it!

The set up is as described in the Riseup guidance.
