Description Arno Lutz 2014-01-12 15:18:01 UTC
in the Messagelist a Message shon in in new Thread if have incorrect german Umlaut.(Attachment)
Normally it should follow the Message-ID and not on the text in Subject.

Answerpostings to such Message will follow them.

I test this in other NR like KNode. There show correct.

Regards
Arno

it's probably the case the References header is broken or missing in the news post that breaks the thread. Without actually seeing the headers of the news posts there's not much more I can say.
Comment 3 Paul 2014-01-12 17:48:25 UTC
Having now had the opportunity to test this myself, I can now close this as WORKSFORME.

If you have further info to demonstrate your particular scenario and verify your report, then re-open.

It's nothing to do with a broken umlaut. Claws does not rely solely upon the Subject for threading. In fact, Claws does not rely on the Subject for threading at all unless you turn on the option to also consider the Subject.

Probably the thread is broken because a news post from that thread is missing.
Comment 6 Paul 2014-01-13 08:44:22 UTC
I found an nntp server that has this group, and therefore I can verify that the thread is broken because the parent of the reply in missing. In Claws this breaks the thread.

That's irrelevant now. However, this was because of the 'Maximum number of articles to download' option on the account preferences, 'Receive' page. Set this higher than the default and the parent message would have been fetched. No need for knode.

i do this, from 100 to 500: nothing changed!
No older Message will load.

For test i canceled this group and subscribe anew. Do this at 15.1
Now dont catch messages older then 14.1 !

sure, Claws is even better.
But...in Knode works.

In memory: both use same News-account.
