For the first time in many years of SC/CM use, I've turned on "leave on server" (2 days). As usual, when the first message(s) is/are received, it correctly displays a retrieve count(s). BUT, from then on, each time a get is performed, even when there is no new mail, the retrieve count flashes N/N where N is the total number of messages already received; but left on server. It appears I was subliminally watching for any counts to flash there which indicated new mail, mainly when I did a manual get when expecting something like an automated response... Can the decision to display messages retrieved please be moved to after the decision to RETR so that it will display the actual N=current/T=totalToRETR rather than the current N=oldMsgsOnServer+current/T=totalMsgsOnServer..? Example: One account has 5 already RETRed msgs on server. Each dry poll flashes 5/5 2 new messages arrive Flashes 6/7, then 7/7 Each dry poll flashes 7/7 etc... Every time I notice any N/N flash, I find myself scrolling 2.2 to 3.0 screenfulls of mailboxes depending on the claws instance... Thanks, Pierre
When you say 'N/N flash', what do you mean? Do you mean the Receive dialogue is shown?
Sorry, no.. the numbers in the lower right just flash for a fraction of a second... that's what I've come to notice (often almost subliminally) as an indicator that new mail is arriving; usually when I click Get [All]. With delete from server, this would only flash when mail was coming in. With leave mail on server, these numbers flash for each get and they show the mail count on the server... It would be great if this N/T (New/Total) only displayed when mail is being received... I know it's mainly a nit; and I am learning to ignore it after years of watching for it's "mail arriving" meaning without a second thought... :) It's more noticeable with long messages, or a slow link... Closing since I no longer pay attention to this detail.
