Bug 3913

Summary: Status set to read upon message reception
Product: Claws Mail (GTK 2) Reporter: J <jerome>
Component: OtherAssignee: users
Status: RESOLVED INVALID
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Version: 3.14.1
Hardware: PC
OS: Linux

Description J 2017-11-09 23:42:20 UTC
Sometimes, upon message reception, claws-mail automatically marks the new message as read.

So if I'm away from keyboard, not watching the screen, I don't get the notification and I don't notice the new message either when I come back because it is marked as read.

As a consequence, I miss messages or notice them a while after.

Unfortunately, I can't figure out what triggers this so I can't reproduce reliably, but it happens pretty often. I think I've been seeing this for a few months now.

I can't tell if claws-mail just marks it as read or if it selects the message and marks it as read as a consequence. When I notice it, it is already too late to tell.

Anyone else seeing this?

Anything I could check?

I'm using Debian Stretch version. And IMAP, if that matters.

Thanks.

It could be a number of things - a filtering rule or the options you have chosen, for example - it is very unlikely to be a bug, and is much more likely to be due to your actions and/or choices.

If you want to discuss this you can use either the users' mailing list and/or the IRC channel. Details here: http://www.claws-mail.org/MLs.php
