Illustration of the problem reported in this bug report.

When the auto-completion drop-down shows up, the drop-down's first entry is the text that's been typed into the address box. Any matching addresses are shown below this text. The problem is that the echoed text is selected while the first matching address is highlighted. So while if you press ENTER, the first selected address is used, to select the second address in the list, a user has to press the DOWN key two times -- the first time to make the selected entry and the highlighted entry match (the first matched address) and the second time to actually move it to the second address in the list.

How to replicate:
 1. Open a message compose window
 2. Type a partial address/name
 3. Press TAB key to initiate auto-completion
 4. The resulting drop-down shows the mismatched selection/highlight (see attachment)

Possible solutions:
 1. Don't echo the typed text on top of the drop-down, thereby making the first matching entry be selected and highlighted.
 2. Select the first matched entry in addition to highlighting it

Somewhere along the line, this was resolved. So closing this.
