Bug 2475

Summary: Address auto-completion and special characters

Status: RESOLVED FIXED

Description J 2011-08-25 00:33:28 UTC
Address auto-completion using display name can not be used with special characters.

For example, if I have contacts like :
[Work] Bob weirdaddress@domain.tld
[Football] John dumbaddress@domain.tld

I can't auto-complete their address unless I know the beginning of the email address itself.

I got no idea whether or not this would be difficult to improve.

implemented in version 3.9.3
Comment 2 J 2014-01-15 23:21:25 UTC
Not exactly, I think.

The search now matches even if the characters entered are not the beginning of the name or the email address. The special characters are ignored.

So, with my example, I can now enter "work" or "bob", but adding "[" won't make any difference.

In practice, this is just as good, probably even better, so as a matter of fact, this is fixed for me.

Thanks.
