Nostalgy is an addon for Thunderbird[0], which enables the user to really quickly move/copy mail, change folder etc by typing some shortcuts and using smart folder completion. I think it was inspired by a mutt feature.

Ctrl+O already opens a nice Select folder window, but if I quickly want to file a mail in archive_rcvd/2008/projects for example, I can't simply enter `2008/proj<enter>' or similar to select the right folder. Nostalgy has some smart way of finding the right folder, and remember the last several used.

So, my feature request is for enhancing the Select folder window with a smarter folder finding feature, or for implementing something more Nostalgy-like [a address-bar-like widget showing up in the main window after hitting a hotkey].

Please, try out the addon in Thunderbird if you have time. Maybe it inspires some way of moving through folders more quickly :)

Thanks for your time.

I have also used Nostalgy and agree this would be a significant improvement.

It's a big win for keyboard accessibility because it's much easier to use kind of live-completion that Nostalgy does than it is to navigation a graphical folder tree by keyboard.

Typing first letters of folder name already moves the folder selecction to first folder which begins with typed letters, which is basically what's requested here.
