Always sort by date ASC within a thread when by thread date
When sorting by date descendingly, it doesn't really make sense to sort messages
within a thread any other way than ascendingly (regardless of sort order), since
most will already be done so, due to their parent/children relationship.
So, when sorting by thread date we sort messages within a thread by date
ascendingly, regardless of current sort order.

Always sort by date ASC within a thread when by thread date
v2: Only when threaded (i.e. using "Thread View" mode)
Also a bump: any reviews/comments on this?
(In reply to Tom Horsley from comment #0) > It would be nice if there was a way to set the sort order within a thread tree > independent of the sort order of the roots of the threads. It doesn't make sense to me for threaded emails to be sorted in descending order. So I think in threaded view, the emails inside a thread should be sorted in ascending order BY DEFAULT, but I will be happy if there were an option. (In reply to Olivier Brunel from comment #2) Thanks for the patch. Simple, and works as expected. I hope it gets merged soon, or at the very least, reviewed. |
